Crown Royal really can lay claim to being the King Of Whiskies.
This Canadian blended whisky icon was created in 1939 to celebrate the first state visit to Canada of the recently crowned King George VI and
Queen Elizabeth II.
To mark this historic occasion, Samuel Bronfman, President of the Seagram Company, decided to introduce a quality blend painstakingly crafted from 50 selected whiskies. Crown Royal was to be packaged in a crown-shaped bottle and dressed in a distinctive royal purple bag - the colour of the House Of Windsor.
Like the packaging, the name chosen for the product was intended to reflect the quality of the spirit, a concept that quickly captured the imagination of the public, keeping Crown Royal at the forefront of Canadian Whisky for over seventy years.
Made from milled corn, rye and malted barley, and distilled to the highest standards, the whiskies are aged in both seasoned and new white oak barrels and eventually selected at their optimum maturity to create the Crown Royal blend.
Crown Royal quickly became Canada’s best selling whisky and to this day is widely acknowledged as Canada’s best whisky export. Crown Royal's smooth, elegant style is considered the epitome of Canadian whisky.
