Destilerias Unidas rums have achieved huge success and popularity both at home in Venezuela and in leading export markets e.g. in Spain, the company’s Cacique rum sells in excess of 1 million-cases per annum. As a testament to the quality of the rums produced, Destilerias Unidas also supplies the majority of the spirit for Pampero rum, a brand which has enjoyed great success as a premium rum in bars across the UK.
Now the skill of the master distiller and the craft of the master blender have created the Diplomatico range, which looks set to follow in the footsteps of its illustrious sister brands. Diplomatico Anejo is a fantastic smooth-sipping medium-weight golden rum, blended from a mix of continuous still and potstill rums aged for an average of four years. Diplomatico Reserva has a higher proportion of potstill rums aged for an average of eight years. As a result, it is noticeably richer and sweeter than the Anejo, with a delicious silky mouthfeel and exceptional balance. Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva is blended exclusively from potstill rums aged an average of twelve years and takes the brand’s characteristic sweet, fruity flavours to an even higher level of concentration and flavour intensity. This is a truly exceptional sipping rum and has proved an instant smash hit with trade and retail customers since its arrival on these shores two years ago. Diplomatico Blanco was launched at the UK Rumfest in October 2008 and has already won the prestigious title of ‘Master’ in the White Rum category at the inaugural Rum Masters 2009 held by top trade magazine The Spirits Business.
